MES Executive Keynote: Smart-Sourcing: Optimize IT Assets In An Increasingly Digital World

The latest market research shows three proven strategies relevant to asset optimization: strategic sourcing, offshoring, and operating a real-time infrastructure. We call that Smart Cloud-Sourcing. In an environment where rapid change is the main constant, the need for adequate IT assets optimization became imperative and it really combines the sourcing mindset with the cloud technology frameworks. This keynote will address a new approach that is now required for IT asset optimization, one which takes into consideration the new lean delivery platforms provided by cloud-based business models, fueled by entrepreneurs who have been bred in this new digital frontier.  Attendees will also gain insight into how this new type of cloud business DNA requires a specific set of people-centric criteria, combined with business acumen when qualifying and selecting vendor partners.

Key takeaways include:

  • The evolution from outsourcing to smart-sourcing to smart cloud-sourcing
  • Why IT leaders need a TCO approach to establish an effective IT assets optimization plan
  • How the digital transformation mindset can maximize the return on smart cloud-sourcing
  • The importance of integrating a people-centric view with business acumen to optimize vendor-partner relationships
  • Where do innovative SaaS Brazilian providers fit the scheme of your problem-solving canvas

Breakout 2: Using Flash And Predictive Analytics To Reduce Business Risk

There are two major trends impacting every midmarket IT leader. The first is the growth in flash array storage and the second is the growing expectation every organization has for its data center to be more effective. To accelerate application access to data and reduce business risk, flash storage needs to be combined with predictive analytics and global learning to analyze, correlate and identify valuable data. The combination will also prevent barriers that slow down applications. These barriers can be related to storage or result from external influences such as network, host, hypervisor, virtual machine, failure to follow best practices or misconfigurations. This presentation will highlight the benefits of the Nimble storage predictive cloud platform and how it combines flash and predictive analytics to help businesses enhance infrastructure availability, achieve investment protection and reduce business risk.

The Sweet Life: How Hershey Deployed IoT—Lessons Learned For Every Midmarket IT Leader

IoT is one of the hottest topics for senior IT leaders of midmarket firms. They are under pressure from business leaders and senior management to figure out a strategy for supporting IoT initiatives across the company while making sure those IoT project comply with company IT guidelines.  There are numerous lessons for every midmarket IT leader to be gleamed from Hershey's grand IoT initiative which began on a single Twizzlers factory line.  Hershey, working with IT solution provider, New Signature, used Microsoft Azure's pre-cooked algorithms to improve Hershey's manufacturing process. Amazingly, no data scientist needed. But a partnership between IT and an innovative IT solution provider was a key ingredient to success.  The results were, by any measure, phenomenal. By deploying multiple sensors throughout the cooking process, Hershey was able to optimize the candy's weight. For every 1 percent adjustment downward in size to bring the Twizzlers closer to their precise weight, in a 14,000-gallon batch, Hershey saw $500,000 in savings.  And applying the sensory data and analytics principles to other candies with more expensive ingredients means the company-wide savings possibilities are staggering. Attendees will hear the story presented by the IT leader at Hershey who oversaw the IoT project and the lead executive at New Signature.

MES Tech Symposium: The Fortinet Security Fabric: An Intelligent, Collaborative Approach To Solving Today’s Security Challenges

For midmarket CIOs and IT leaders, having the right security woven throughout the network can mean the difference between running a smooth, safe network or becoming the latest security breach headline. The Fortinet Security Fabric gives CIOs the ability to control, integrate and manage security across the entire organization. This can all be done through a single pane of glass. Attendees will learn why a fabric approach is superior to platforms, allowing an organization to maximize current investments while creating a security network that dynamically expands and adapts as more workloads and data are added. At the same time, the Fortinet Security Fabric protects data, users and applications as they move back and forth between IoT, endpoints and cloud environments.

However, many midmarket IT leaders remain perplexed how to utilize new functions such as collaborative, search and social services now available to them.
