Keynote Panel: Cutting Through the Hype of Hyper-Convergence

There are many experts in the industry who believe hyper-convergence is the next big thing.  It is sure shaping up that way! But simplifying customers’ complex IT environments is no easy task and it's shrouded in a bit of mystery and confusion for partners, developers and IT buyers. Is this a solution just for large enterprises or does it have a fit in the midmarket? This panel of experts will address those issues and help attendees understand how to position hyper-convergence against public cloud solutions. In addition, leading solution providers will discuss the investments required in technical skills, sales and marketing to address this market opportunity. This session will prepare solution providers who are looking for ways to consolidate traditional compute, storage, network switching and other devices found in the data center into one solution. Speakers will address solutions from Scale Computing, SimpliVity, and HP Enterprise among others. Walk away with insight into the sales and profit opportunity and whether or not this is an over-hyped opportunity. This session will be moderated by Robert DeMarzo.

Executive Session II: How a Solution Provider Built an IoT Practice and Why You Should Too

There’s little dispute that IoT is the industry’s current buzzword. But this might be a trend that lives up to the hype.   Gartner predicts that 2016 spending on IoT endpoint products will total nearly $1.4 trillion; by 2020, they anticipate that number reaching $3 trillion. Solution providers and system integrators are well positioned to capitalize on this opportunity, but it can be daunting to formulate a path forward.  In this session, New Signature’s Chief Sales Officer, David Geevaratne, will share the story of how they built an IoT practice from the ground up. He’ll explain how they leveraged a strong relationship with an existing client, to identify a need and build out what would become a thriving IoT division.

  • What investments both in dollars and talent needed to be made?
  • How did they approach their first client and discover a need?
  • How did they use Microsoft Azure’s IoT Suite to connect, collect, capture and mine data from existing assets?
  • How long did it take between having the dream and receiving revenue?
  • Where does New Signature’s IoT practice go from here?

Executive Session II: Why Building Better Business Relationships Matter - NOW

Text messaging, email, tweeting, sending PDF’s are consuming people - even when they are trying to sell. Consequently, salespeople have been moving away from building relationships – causing their effectiveness to dwindle, as well as their pipelines. Understanding today’s olderand younger buyers is a critical success factor for breaking through the noise of the market and elevating oneself above the competition. Did you know:

  • In 1968, 56% of people said that most people can be trusted.
  • In 2014, only 30% said that most people can be trusted.
  • Only 20% of millennials believe that most people can be trusted

Today’s salespeople must understand that the quality of the relationship and level of developed trust have the most impact on the willingness of the buyer to accept your direction. Selling is not about selling, it’s about buying! This session will provide you with the “extra edge” that will increase your win ratio and improve overall customer loyalty. Brought to you by Keith Lubner, Channel Consulting and Ken Thoreson, Acumen Management; they will share their expertise & findings on how you can create impactful and lasting relationships with your prospects and customers.

NexGen Keynote: Future Crimes--Inside The Digital Underground And The Battle For Our Connected World

One of the world’s leading authorities on global security, Marc Goodman takes NexGen Cloud attendees deep into the digital underground to expose the alarming ways criminals, corporations, and even countries are using new and emerging technologies against you—and how this makes everyone more vulnerable than ever imagined.
Technological advances have benefited our world in immeasurable ways, but there is an ominous flip side: our technology can be turned against us. Hackers can activate baby monitors to spy on families, thieves are analyzing social media posts to plot home invasions, and stalkers are exploiting the GPS on smart phones to track their victims’ every move. We all know today’s criminals can steal identities, drain online bank accounts, and wipe out computer servers, but that’s just the beginning. To date, no computer has been created that could not be hacked—a sobering fact given our radical dependence on these machines for everything from our nation’s power grid to air traffic control to financial services.

With explosive insights based upon a career in law enforcement and counterterrorism, Marc Goodman will take you on a vivid journey through the darkest recesses of the Internet. Goodman provides a mind-blowing glimpse into the dark side of technological innovation and the unintended consequences of our connected world. Goodman offers a way out with clear steps we must take to survive the progress unfolding before us. Provocative, thrilling, and ultimately empowering, this session will serve as an urgent call to action that shows how we can take back control over our own devices and harness technology’s tremendous power for the betterment of humanity—before it’s too late.

Executive Session I: Four Key Elements of Success in the Age of Digital Disruption

The new world of digital transformation has enormous ramifications for business leaders in all sectors, including technology itself. Across the board, it requires a new way of thinking about technology, and a new approach to how we analyze and solve our business problems. Within the tech sector, it means that the service we provide needs to change. We need to recognize that the tables have been turned in the relationship between business and technology. We need to think in terms of business transformation, not technology transformation, because the “business of doing business” is now the driver of innovation in technology.

To succeed in this disruptive environment, we need to do more than adapt: We need to transform. For those of us who weren’t digital children, we need to reprogram ourselves to see our businesses in fundamentally different ways, and be willing to embrace the uncertainty that comes with trying something new. It sounds risky, but it’s necessary. Because if we don’t transform, we die. It’s that simple. In this session, Powell will explore how technology companies can work with strategic-thinking sector leaders to transform their businesses and successfully embrace the third platform.

Solution provides cannot wait for their customers to discover a breach or come to them after a major cyber attack to discover what went wrong. Playing defense is a recipe for disaster that is played out in the news every day. The information security game cannot be won with that strategy. To provide the ultimate value to customers today, next-gen focused solution providers must go on the offensive using the latest technologies, techniques, services and software available to protect clients. Lance James, an expert in the area of offensive cyber counter intelligence missions, will discuss strategies for offensive security and mobile defense design that solution providers must understand to strengthen their IT security practices.

Executive Session III: How To Move Applications to Containers in 5 Easy Steps

Containers are exploding onto the application development scene, especially when it comes to cloud computing.  Why?  Portability is the key battle cry of containers.  They are able to abstract the applications into a container, which can be moved from cloud to cloud.  Portability has been a big chasm in cloud computing thus far, given the proprietary nature of some public clouds.

That said, moving to container-based applications is no easy task.  You must consider the application itself, as well as how it can be refactored to leverage container architecture effectively.  Also, how are you going to make your containerized application scale?

In this presentation we’ll boil the process of moving application to containers into 5 easy and understandable steps.  We’ll take you from understanding your requirements, to understanding your application, to moving to containers in the best achievable way.  Finally, we’ll teach you how to make the whole thing scale, and never ever break.  If containers are in your future, come get the secrets to containerization success.

Executive Session I: What's Your Cloud Cocktail? How the Best CIOs are Mixing It Up

There is great deal of industry talk about which workloads and applications should reside in the public cloud vs. on premises or in private clouds. Much of this conversation takes place between tech suppliers and solution providers. The missing perspective has been from the customers who are making those decisions and managing their cloud vendors and applications day in and day out. This CIO panel session will help attendees understand how IT decision makers view the public cloud along with their assessment of the costs associated with public cloud providers. Attendees will also gain insight into what is known as the “tipping point” for moving workloads to public cloud and whether doing so allows IT leaders to focus more on the business and less on managing infrastructure. So if you are tired of hearing from so-called industry experts or the claims of cloud providers, attend this session and hear firsthand from the customers to understand their mindset. Executive Session I: Hybrid Hosting - The Third Generation Cloud

The next generation of cloud computing will have to deliver better value — faster, automated, manageable — and reporting will be key factors. Amazon saw an opportunity to create a product out of web-scale infrastructure so that customers could easily utilize web-scale applications. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is recognized as a second-generation cloud product, which was preceded by the first generation VPS technology. The AWS virtualized system, the console, the ordering process, and the cloud API make up some of the cloud advancements within this generation. Hovering overhead, however, is a set of shortcomings that have dogged the public cloud industry for years. For example, companies that face compliance, security, and performance needs have long struggled with the control and application structuring that this cloud generation lacks. Within a public cloud, there is no native way of structuring capacity, flexibility, and control that modern applications require. In time, enterprise demands led to the emergence of the third generation cloud: the hybrid cloud.

Sayegh will discuss how a hybrid cloud platform can provide a multi-tiered architecture with ability to integrate with existing technology processes and management tools, and support various business tenants and, in essence, be a flexible service platform. Hybrid is the third generation cloud — an intelligent platform finally able to adequately handle the complex infrastructures and applications of the future.

Attendees will learn the following:

  • How to integrate a hybrid cloud platform with existing IT infrastructure and processes
  • Why hybrid cloud is the platform to handle the most complex infrastructure and applications of the future and how it performs

The different hybrid cloud considerations for small businesses to large enterprises

Executive Session III: Inside The New World Of IoT—Meet The New Players & Future Partners

There is no doubt that IoT represents a massive opportunity for solution providers but capitalizing on the trend will require a new set of partners that come from outside the traditional IT industry. IT-focused solution providers need partners who can help them turn pools of data created by IoT into value for customers. There are hundreds of companies in the business of data collection, industrial automation, monitoring and control and automation transmission that solution providers need to know if they are going to build successful IoT practices. Having the right partners can open doors in markets such as energy, healthcare, industrial products, transportation, public safety and building maintenance. But everyone needs to speak the same language in order to move forward. Solution providers must get out in front of this trend and connect with partners who have OT services that can be incorporated into an overall IT or business solution for customers. During this session, attendees will meet some of these suppliers to gain an understanding of their offerings, strategies, growth plans and perceptions of today's IT channel.

Executive Session I: How To Build a DevOps Team in 60 Days and Not Get Fired

Building a DevOps organization, and supporting technology strategy, in a limited amount of time, and with a limited budget, is almost impossible.  Obstacles are related more to people than technology, and you’ll find that most people fear and thus hinder change.

DevOps is the single most important process and technology set that you can bring to your organization.  However, it does require systemic change to both humans and processes, and a wide array of supporting technology that ties everything together.  Push too slow, and you could lose millions in lost opportunities.  Push too hard, and you could be out of a job.

In this presentation we’ll give you the 5 secrets to building a DevOps organization in a little as 60 days.  We’ll discuss how to get the budget, how to get people to change, how to select the right tools, and how to do all of this without losing your job.

Executive Session II: Cloud Services Marketplace: Examining Orbitz & Priceline's Impact

Please join Sean Ferrel as we talk about cloud marketplaces, brokerage and the long term effects of managing your customers cloud strategy. While it may seem like much of what we’re all known if going away the world of the public cloud offers a whole new world of reoccurring revenue for all of us!

Over the next several years’ public cloud management will be key to the success of both distributors and integrators alike. Cost management, brokerage, and overall management will be at the center of how we manage our customers and automation will allow us to quickly make decisions that allow us to make informed decisions when working with these providers.

Large Public Cloud Providers at just starting to gain maturity and most organizations are taking a deeper look at these utility models. While we all have our favorites cloud partners so do our customers and it’s important we look at cloud much like we look at purchasing airline tickets, compare all brands and make sure getting from point A to B is seamless and cost effective.

Will we live in a world where bid our datacenter space out to the highest bidder or can we call the shots on price, performance and overall spend?….We believe so!

Executive Session III: Cloud Sourcing: Strategies to Find the SMB Solutions That Will Drive Your Cloud Business

Sourcing “off-the-shelf” cloud solutions brings with it a unique set of challenges. Before the cloud, sourcing applications and solutions was straightforward with numerous distributors vetting suppliers, offering support and featuring those solutions as part of their portfolio. Today, the process is much more complicated and it is up to the solution provider to ensure the viability of the supplier along with the quality of the application. The cloud has basically turned the process-driven world of sourcing and distribution on its head. So what is a cloud-focused solution provider to do? In the world of SMBs, the cloud looks a bit different than at the mid-market and enterprise level, as an ecosystem of ISVs targeting SMBs continues to grow and flourish. Many of these companies are new to channel, have immature partner programs and do not offer their products and services through traditional distributors. Cloud service providers and MSPs need a strategy to engage with and offer these solutions without wasting valuable resources in administration and vendor management. In this session, we look at the emerging marketplaces, matchmaking services and other resources available to help solution providers find and offer the right solutions.

This session will be moderated by Sean Ferrel.
