CRN TECH TRENDS
More businesses are adopting hybrid clouds, and in turn, pushing the dominant public and private cloud vendors to work together. So there was little surprise among solution providers when private cloud technology vendor VMware and public cloud giant Amazon Web Services recently announced a partnership under which VMware's complete software-defined data center offering will run on the AWS public cloud.

In our list of CRN.com stories below, read about that, along with other news that will – or could – impact the channel partner landscape.

PARTNER BUZZ
"This is an acknowledgement the largest private cloud virtualization company has to play nicely with the largest public cloud company, because the more they are at loggerheads, it's the customers that are suffering and getting frustrated."
~ Jason Deck, senior vice president of strategy at Logicworks, a large implementation partner of AWS and VMware, after the two cloud vendors announced a partnership under which VMware's software-defined data center offering will run on the AWS public cloud.

"This is a $235 billion company that has proven that it can bounce back from adversity and continue to deliver products and provide great support with its partners in the markets they compete in."
~ Bob Venero, CEO of Holbrook, N.Y.-based Future Tech, talking about Samsung after the vendor announced it would stop production of its Galaxy Note7 smartphone following several reported incidents in which the phone, and even some of the replacement units it sent out, began to smoke or catch fire.
